Alleged Attack on Delegates in Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency

Alleged Attack on Delegates in Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency by Hon. Bright Wireko Brobby's Associates*

In a startling incident today, on February 1st, 2044, at approximately 8:30 AM, four individuals reportedly armed with machetes and other weapons assaulted Mr. Stephen Cobbina, an Assembly member of Abeka Nkwanta, and a polling station chairman. According to Mr. Cobbina, the incident occurred at Twifo Hemang, just opposite the Church of Pentecost Junction.

During the altercation, the assailants demanded the keys to Mr. Cobbina's motorcycle, while others proceeded to deflate its tires. Allegedly, the attackers claimed to be acting on behalf of Hon. Lawyer Bright Wireko Brobby, Member of Parliament for Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency. They asserted that their mission was to recover dues from delegates who had allegedly received benefits but did not vote for Hon. Bright Wireko Brobby in the recent NPP parliamentary primaries.

The group, reportedly led by an individual named Kwaku James, intimidated Mr. Cobbina and carried out the assault. Despite Mr. Cobbina's report to the Twifo Hemang Police, authorities purportedly dismissed the incident as a political matter.

Before today's incident, the polling station chairman at Bobi was asked by the campaign manager for Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobby, Mr. Francis Asare (NPP Central regional treasure), to return the motorcycle Hon. Wireko-Brobby gave him during his campaign. He threatened him that if he doesn't bring he will make sure he would be arrested. It is alleged that some of the polling station executives have been asked by Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobby and  his team to return the transportation they received from Hon. Wireko-Brobby.

The incidents raise concerns about political violence and intimidation in the district, prompting calls for thorough investigation and accountability
