Setting the Record Straight in NDC Hemang Lower Denkyira

MOVEMENT FOR POSITVE ACTION (MoFPA)

MEET THE PRESS

DUBBED: Setting the Record Straight in NDC, Hemang Lower Denkyira

Constituency

31ST MARCH, 2023

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen.

Thank you all for honouring our invitation to our Meet the Press dubbed: “Setting

the Record Straight in NDC, Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency”. You are all

warmly welcome.

One may ask, what record are we setting straight in NDC Hemang Lower Denkyira

Constituency (HLDC)?

Ladies and Gentlemen, we want to use your medium to tell the NDC Vetting

Committee, the National, Regional, Constituency Executives, and anyone who really

have the NDC Party at heart and the general public that LAWYER SETH

AGYAPONG-MENSAH must be disqualified from contesting the Parliamentary

Candidate position in the upcoming Party’s Parliamentary Elections on 13th May,

2023 based on the following perturbing reasons:

1. I am very much aware that, Lawyer Seth Agyapong-Mensah is not a true

registered member of the NDC Party as stipulated in the Party’s Constitution

Article 8 (11); “A person is not a member of the Party unless the person is

a member of a Branch”.

And one can be a member of a Branch when the person has apply to a Branch

by filling out a membership form or during the Party’s national registration

exercise BUT Lawyer Seth has not registered during the Party’s National

registration exercise in 2018 and 2022.

2. It is clear that Lawyer Seth is not an active member at his branch in the

constituency, hence his ineligibility to contest the upcoming Parliamentary

Primaries as established in Article 41 (8 b) of the NDC Constitution; A

member shall not be qualified to contest the primaries for a Parliamentary

seat if the person: is not an active member of the Party at the constituency

level for the four (4)years immediately preceding the date of filling

nomination and the Guidelines for The Election of a Parliamentary

Candidates for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024

General Elections Section 2 (1)(II&III): A person desirous of contesting for

the position of Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC in any constituency shall:

II: be a card-bearing member of the party in good standing, who has paid

his/her party membership dues in full (i.e from January 2018 to

December, 2022).

III: be an active member of a branch of the party in the constituency for

not less than four (4) years immediately preceding the date of filing his/her

nominations, except otherwise determined by the Functional Executive

Committee or except the person is a member of a foreign or external

branch of the party.

3. I have also come to realization that Lawyer Seth is very DISHONEST,

IMPERSONATOR, DISLOYAL and CANNOT BE TRUSTED.

a. Lawyer Seth knowing very well that he did not register in 2018 and do

not meet the requirements to be eligible to contest for Parliamentary

Candidate intentionally used someone’s Party Membership Number to

fill his nominations and filing. He used the number J210040024 that

belongs to ANTHONY TANDOH.

b. The then Constituency Director of Elections removed the page in the

register that bears the Registration Officers’ signature and the closure

of the 2018 Party’s registration and this paved the way for him to write

Lawyer Seth and other people names illegally into the register. As a

result of this, the true Party members who constitutionally registered in

2018 in that page names have been missing and the other page of where

he teared has been removed. So the whole constituency, it is only Jukwa

Methodist Primary “A” Branch register has 48 leaflets instead of 50

leaflets.

c. If Lawyer Seth is claiming to be registered in 2018, who registered him?

When and where was he registered? Who gave him his Party Green

Card?

4. Lawyer Seth Agyapong-Mensah attitude portrays to me that he has no positive

record, does not portray qualities of a good leader, and does not show positive

moral behaviour.

Ladies and Gentlemen, on Tuesday, 2nd November, 2021, I received a phone call

from our immediate past Constituency Chairman that a certain man who introduced

himself as Lawyer Seth called him through phone on Sunday, 31st October, 2021

early in the morning that he (Lawyer Seth) want to meet him and because

Chairman is a Church leader he told him to meet him after church. So they met after

church at Wawase, though that was the first time both have seen or met each other.

According to chairman, the main reason why the lawyer met him was the lawyer’s

desire to join the NDC Party in the Constituency to help make the party more

attractive.

So Chairman said, he was so excited and therefore told Lawyer Seth to submit an

official letter stating clearly that he want to join the NDC Party since the Party’s

registration was not due, but Lawyer Seth up to date has never wrote the letter

because he says that he is a lawyer and one day it could be used against him. Like

how? So I decided to monitor him vigilantly to know what he was up to.

Ladies and Gentlemen, an arrangement was made to meet lawyer Seth personally

through one of my bosses who is now the Campaign Manager for Lawyer Seth at

Cape Coast on Tuesday, 4th January, 2022 around 9am in the morning. He could not

honour the time so he got to Cape Coast around 10:30am and told me that he was

sorry for being late and also he is in hurry so I should sit in his car and then have the

conversation so wherever we finish then he gives me transportation to return. And

let me state it emphatically that that was my first time as an active and hard working

Party executive member of seeing this man in my entire life. He was going to Accra

so it was Esuehyia that I alighted and he gave me envelope as my transportation and

when I got home and opened the envelope, it was an amount of GH₵ 500 and I said

wow, do they want to influence me with money?

Honestly speaking what my boss told me was different from what the man also said

and I became more suspicious. My boss told me that one God father at Accra is the

one pushing Lawyer Seth so I later went to meet that God father and to my surprised,

the man said he does not know or met any Lawyer Seth in his life

Lawyer Seth for the first time introduced himself to the Hemang Lower Denkyira

NDC together with other two University lecturers on Saturday, 8th January, 2022 at

Wawase Pentecost Church when the Party organised a Constituency Retreat and I

was the Master of Ceremony for the programme that day.

But to my amazement, Lawyer Seth has also picked and filed a form to contest as

Parliamentary Candidate of NDC in the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries in the

Constituency which is totally in breach of the NDC Party’s Constitution.

This man has never contributed to any party activities since the establishment of the

Constituency in 2004 to 2021.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it should be on record that we are not against Lawyer Seth
joining the NDC Party because we need more people to join us rescue the nation
from the NPP government led by the super incompetent Akufo Addo, but the Party’s
Constitution must be respected, protected, defended and uphold so that bad
precedent would not be set to put the Party’s name into public ridicules. Is it not
embarrassing that our opponents in the Constituency are making mockery of NDC
by saying that we don’t have the men to lead our Party so they have borrowed us
one of their people?
Furthermore, it will serve as a lesson to all who think they can just wake up one day
and forgery documents to pave their way in occupying positions in the Party. His
disqualification will also energise people to work hard and show commitment,
loyalty and honesty to the NDC Party, because hard work and commitment would
be rewarded.
May the Lord bless us all and give us strength to fight for truth always.
Long Live Ghana!
Long Live Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency!
Long Live NDC!
Thank you.
