Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, the police officer who allegedly killed his girlfriend Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, at Adum in Kumasi, has claimed that the victim owed him GH₵5,000.

This information was contained in the prosecution’s documents, which were read in court on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. The suspect, who was charged with murder, was escorted to the Asokore Mampong District Court with police reinforcement due to the charged atmosphere and emotions present.

The court also revealed that Inspector Ahmed Twumasi had used a service pistol to commit the crime.

Despite not being allowed to plead guilty or not, the judge asked him if he had anything to say. Inspector Twumasi responded by saying, “I have no intention to commit the crime; what happened is between me and God.”

He has been remanded into police custody and will reappear on May 30, 2023.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many people expressing their shock and dismay at the actions of the police officer. The victim’s family and friends are demanding justice and calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Ghana Police Service has also issued a statement condemning the actions of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi and assuring the public that they are committed to upholding the law and ensuring that justice is served.
