Three Remanded by  Court Over Narcotics Charges

The Nsuta Circuit Court in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, presided over by His Lordship Simon Nketia Gagah, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, remanded three persons into prison custody over alleged narcotics-related offences.

The accused persons are 23-year-old rider, Fuseni Ali, also known as Adwen; 23-year-old bus conductor, Francis Manu, also known as Freedom; and 37-year-old driver, Eric Mahama, also known as Apeele. All three are residents of Offinso-Kokote.

Presenting the facts before the court, the prosecution, led by Detective Chief Inspector Peter Kantoreje, stated that the complainants in the case are police officers from the Ashanti North Operations Command in Mampong.

According to the prosecution, on Friday, February 17, 2026, the police received intelligence that the accused persons were engaged in the sale and use of narcotic substances, as well as the abuse of tramadol, at Offinso-Kokote. Acting on the information, officers proceeded to a suspected drug base popularly known as “Backyard” at Kokote, where the accused persons were allegedly arrested while peddling the substances.

A search conducted on the suspects reportedly led to the retrieval of twenty boxes of 225mg tramadol and four boxes of 250mg tramadol from Fuseni Ali. From Francis Manu, officers allegedly retrieved thirty wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, fourteen pieces of toffees, fifteen wraps of substances wrapped in brown paper, also suspected to be Indian hemp, and three tablets of 100mg tramadol.

Police further stated that one hundred and ten wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from Eric Mahama.

The prosecution added that the accused persons were subsequently taken to the Regional CID together with the retrieved exhibits, where they allegedly gave caution statements admitting ownership of the respective items. Fuseni Ali and Francis Manu are also said to have identified one “Don King” as their supplier.

The court was informed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the alleged supplier and any possible accomplices. As a result, the pleas of the accused persons were not taken.

The court consequently remanded the three accused persons into prison custody and adjourned the case to May 9, 2026, for mention
